Material and Technical Facilities

Material and technical base meets requirements of educational process. It allows to conduct cadets’ professional training in the specialty “Navigation” according to higher education degrees “Bachelor” and “Master” at KSMA, in accordance with requirements of International Convention and Code STCW-78/95 (as amended).

Educational and material base includes training complexes, laboratories and classrooms.

Educational and methodological laboratory of innovative technologies

Laboratory was created to train academy teachers in the latest technologies, work in single information and educational space, and help in formation of electronic, educational and scientific content.

Laboratory is equipped with modern multiboard “EdPro” – panel with built-in computer that allows you to go online and watch video or use training simulator. Multiboards are the latest generation of training equipment. They replaced projectors. It is standalone device using Microsoft Windows operating system, which allows you to use all programs and connect with any devices running Windows or Android, and set of preinstalled applications developed specifically for multiboard turn this device into interactive display, computer and smartphone. Ability to wirelessly connect with smartphones and tablets allows you to accompany educational material with interactive tests, 3D models and videos from Youtube, visual effects and animations. Large number of interactive tools allow you to effectively conduct training sessions and presentations.

Laboratory consists of two functional rooms.

Laboratory allows to conduct training of cadets and seafarers in qualifications: General Operator’s Certificate for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (according to the IMO model course 1.25) and Restricted Operator’s Certificate for Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (according to IMO Model Course 1.26), and practice SAR exercises. Simulator covers main areas of maritime training in full compliance with STCW-78 Code with Manila amendments of 2010 and has DNV class A certificate.

Laboratory has 15 GMDSS simulators and GMDSS equipment rack, which are fully functional copy of GMDSS console of modern ship. Touchscreen technology, applied in GMDSS Trainer Training Laboratory, approved by AMERC for GMDSS General Operator Examinations.

Latest version of GMDSS simulator manufactured by SPRadio / Thrane & Thrane TRANSAS

TGS 5000 allows you to simulate different types of GMDSS radio equipment: complete SAILOR 6000 kit currently installed on ships, and earlier versions: SAILOR 5000, SAILOR System 4000 and SAILOR Compact 2000, as well as FURUNO radio kit.

Equipment:

  • gyrocompass “Course – 4” (training model) is one of the most widespread devices of this type. It is used to study design of shipboard two gyroscopic gyrocompasses;
  • gyrocompass “Anschütz stand.22” (Germany) (set of instruments) is high-quality, modern product with the greatest demand in the world market of navigation equipment. It is used to study principle of operation, determine errors, maintain modern gyrocompasses;
  • GPS compass “Koden KGS-1” (Japan) is modern satellite compass of compact type with antenna rotation control unit to simulate real working conditions. Used to learn principle of determining position, heading and other navigation parameters using satellite navigation signals;
  • echo sounder Samyung SES-2000 (Korea) is one of the most widespread on ships. Used to study principle of determining depth and topography of soil, as well as to demonstrate work. It is possible to print dynamics of depth changes on compact printer;
  • electric navigation log IEL 2M (Russia) provides all necessary functions to determine: speed of vessel relative to water, rout passed by vessel. This type of log is still used on most ships. It is used to study principle of determining rout and speed of vessel relative to the water.

Electronic models of “Scanty” and “Sailor” radars are used to study design, control parts of “Scanty” and “Sailor” navigation radars

AIS “Nauticast” – electronic versions of manufacturer for studying design and control parts of AIS “Nauticast”.

Radar simulator with autopilot “Aist” is used to study structure of control parts, handling parts and diagnostics of autopilot.

“Vega” gyro-azimuth compass is used to study design of control parts, handling parts, principles of coordination of gyrocompass with radar.

Echo sounder NEM M3B is used to study design of monitoring and control parts, principles of diagnostics of navigation echo sounders.

– Приемоіндикатор «Furuno GP – 150» – остання розробка японської фірми «Furuno». Має 5 дисплеїв, функцію Моb (man over board), пам’ять 3 тис. Wait point. Призначений для відпрацювання навичок введення приемоіндікатора маршруту, установки alarm, підходу до точки повороту, відхилення судна від маршруту, знесення з місця якірної стоянки. Кількість макетів – 2 шт. – GPS Simrad Ship Made – розробка фірми Simrad з вбудованими електронними картами. Є 2 сертифікованих чіпа з фірмовими електронними картами пам’яті 5 тис. крапок повороту, стоянка на якорі, передбачена функція MOB.

  • radar “Helvin Hughes” is working model designed for installation on ships with displacement of more than 50 thousand registered tons, range of 64 nautical miles, indication of true and relative motion, orientation along course and north, parallel to index line, target lock, shutdown course markers, predicting disagreements, determining shortest approach distance and short travel time, playing maneuver;
  • navigation radar station GRS 6000 thousand series. It is designed to be installed on ships with displacement of up to 10 thousand registered tons. Range of 120 nautical miles, plotter mode, indication of true and relative movement, orientation curs up, head up, north up, turning off course mark, eliminating interference from waves, rain, other radars;
  • bridge master (Sperry Marine) is the latest development of Vision Master, automated radar controlled by ergonomic controls, automatic reduction of level of interference from sea, rain and other radars, deactivation of heading marker, coordinated with GRS, Furuno receiver and automatic identification transponder Sun Young. It is used in educational process since 2014;
  • certified electronic trainers from Scanty and Sailor, display diameter – 46 inches (4 units) and 32 inches (1 display). It is designed for studying of marine radars, AIS, ARPA, electronic maps.
  • certified electronic simulator for practicing ship control using radar, autopilot, operates in programmable mode, automatic, monitors and simple, synchronously and separately, allows you to adjust derivative, sensitivity and CBS (feedback coefficient);
  • receiver “Furuno GP – 150” is the latest development of Japanese company “Furuno”. It has 5 displays, Mob function (man over board), memory 3 thousand Wait point. It is intended for practicing skills of introducing route receiver–indicator, setting alarm, approaching turning point, deviating vessel from route, demolishing anchorage. Number of layouts – 2 units;
  • GPS Simrad Ship Made is development by Simrad with built-in electronic maps. There are 2 certified chips with branded electronic memory cards of 5 thousand turning points, anchorage, MOB function is provided.
