Professional Development and Training of Employees of the Department

  • From 10 May to 14 June 2023, a leading specialist of the Department took part in the Grant Writing Course, developed by Cormack Consultancy Group as part of the Twinning Initiative aimed at supporting universities in Ukraine. As a result of the course, participants got acquainted with the funding instruments, donor databases, basics of grant writing, pitching, budgeting, grant management, building consortia, etc.
  • On 09 February 2024, specialists of the International Affairs Department joined the webinar “How the Digital Europe Programme Works: from Application to Grant Opportunities”, organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, GIZ Ukraine and CIVITTA. In September 2022, Ukraine signed an agreement on participation in the EU Digital Europe Programme (2021-2027). The project is aimed at promoting the implementation of digital solutions in all fields of the country’s economy and public life with focus on the following areas: – artificial intelligence, data and cloud services; – high-performance computing; – advanced digital skills; – widespread use of digital technologies in economy and society. The event was attended by over 100 people representing different regions of Ukraine. During the session, experts explained how the programme works, its importance for the Ukrainian institutions’ integration into the EU; commented on the navigation through the programme’s roadmap and how to apply for funding; informed about various grants, projects and funding sources for potential ideas.
  • On 12 February 2024, specialists of the International Affairs Department participated in the online masterclass “Rebooting for Rankings: Optimising Ukraine’s Position in the World University Rankings”, organised by Cormack Consultancy Group. Duncan Ross, a representative of Times Higher Education (THE), presented an analysis of Ukraine’s position in the world university rankings, highlighted the challenges and opportunities for Ukrainian universities to participate in the Times Higher Education ranking and provided a detailed description of the data collection process for THE.
  • In order to promote the establishment of the young sci-tech elite of Ukraine, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted a training to study European experience and identify the main trends in quality management systems for their development, implementation and certification on 14-15 March, 2024. KSMA staff joined the training, which was conducted by specialists from Lviv Polytechnic National University, and a number of operating companies and institutions, including Global Logic, Leoni Wiring Systems, and State Research Institute “Systema”.
  • On 11 April, 2024, specialists of the International Affairs Department joined a seminar “Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions”, organised by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC), Lithuania. Representatives of FH Münster University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Antwerp (Belgium) and Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania) shared with participants the specific features of internal quality assurance at HEIs.
  • On April 16, 2024, the head of the International Affairs department, Alona Yurzhenko, successfully completed the online course “Project Management in the Public Sector” with the amount of 0.2 ECTS credits/ 6 academic hours.
