International Academic Mobility

In order to improve the quality of education and the effectiveness of research at KSMA, as well as to increase the competitiveness of the academy graduates at the international labor market, our educational institution participates in the Erasmus + program. One of such projects is the student exchange program KA-107 “Student Mobility for Learning”, the participant of which Kherson State Maritime Academy was selected.

As per June 1, 2021, 1 (one) KSMA student were nominated for the implementation of academic mobility at Latvian Maritime Academy for the period of 1 semester (6 months) in the the academic year 2021/22.

  • Diploma awarding to students of Kherson State Maritime Academy at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy. The first diplomas were awarded to electrical engineers Nakoryk Denys and Tsement Andrii. Students obtained dual degrees of KSMA and LMA.
  • On December 9, 2022, students of Kherson State Maritime Academy who studied under the agreed programmes at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy, were awarded professional bachelor’s diplomas of KSMA and LMA. 44 students successfully defended their final theses in English and passed the qualifying exams.
  • From 12.12.2022 till 16.12.2022, Iryna SHVETSOVA, Associate Professor of the English Language Department for Deck Officers, worked at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy under the Erasmus+ mobility programme. The week was full of various events such as meetings, lectures, seminars, personal conversations and exchange of experience in working with students.
  • Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, two first-year students of Kherson State Maritime Academy, Vladyslav Yurkov and Rostyslav Yurkov, received a grant for six-month study at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy.
  • From April 24 till April 28, 2023, thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, KSMA lecturers Alona LESHCHENKO and Alona YURZHENKO worked under the academic mobility programme at the Latvian Maritime Academy. Representatives from Finland, Albania, Montenegro and Ukraine attended the Erasmus+ International Week. Each team presented its educational institution, conducted training sessions, and shared progress and experience in various scientific areas.
  • On June 28, 2023, 58 students of Kherson State Maritime Academy who studied under the agreed programme at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy, received dual degrees of KSMA and LMA. Rector of KSMA Vasyl CHERNIAVSKYI and Director of LMA Vaclav STANKEVIČ delivered welcoming speeches. Sponsors of the training programme: Head of the ITF Seafarers’ Trust Katie HIGGINBOTTOM, Chairman of the MTWTU Oleg GRYGORIUK, representatives of Marlow Navigation Co. Ltd. (Cyprus) Martin BANKOV and Marlow Navigation Ukraine Serhii SAGLO attended a diploma awarding ceremony.
  • On May 10, 2025, the oath-taking ceremony of the first-year students of the Lithuanian Maritime Academy of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and the oath-taking ceremony of the military personnel took place at the Klaipeda Cruise Terminal. 10 first-year students of KSMA working in the agreed KSMA-LMA double degree program.
  • From 7.04.25 to 11.04.25, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and the Lithuanian Maritime Academy hosted the international Erasmus+ week, welcoming guests from the Philippines, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine, and the Lithuanian Maritime Academy.
  • From 12.05.25 to 16.05.25, at the University of the Aegean (Greece, Chios), the head of the international relations department, YURZHENKO Alona, and the associate professor of the English language in navigation, BARSUK Svitlana, underwent an internship with the aim of establishing international relations and opening up new opportunities for students and teaching staff of KSMA.
  • From 06/23/2025 to 06/27/2025, the Rector of Kherson State Maritime Academy, Viktor Husiev, took part in the Erasmus+ academic mobility program for teachers at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Republic of Lithuania) as part of the joint mobility project in the Key Action 1 direction, project number 2024-1-LT01-KA171-HED-000200727.
  • On June 30, 2025, a graduation ceremony was held at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. Among the graduates were cadets of KhSMA, who are studying under the dual award programme. This is the 7th graduation of students with KSMA and LMA diplomas. During the period of the program, about 350 students received KhSMA and LMA diplomas.
  • On July 01, 2025, a meeting of the leadership of Kherson State Maritime Academy, the Lithuanian Maritime Academy and students of the dual award programme was held. The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr PROKUDIN, and the chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, Oleksandr SAMOYLENKO, congratulated the students and recognized the active participants in the cooperation program between the maritime academies of Lithuania and Ukraine. On their behalf, the rector of KSMA Viktor HUSIEV presented awards from the Kherson region to his colleagues from Lithuania.
  • Postgraduate student of Kherson State Maritime Academy Yuriy Shulga successfully completed his studies (short-term stay under the program) at the Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport of the University of the Aegean Sea (Greece) from 09.10.2025 to 28.10.2025 within the framework of the Erasmus+ international academic mobility program KA171.
  • From October 27 to 31, 2025, academic staff of the Department of English in Navigation of the Kherson State Maritime Academy – Valentyna KUDRYAVTSEVA and Associate Professors Olena FROLOVA and Svitlana BARSUK – successfully participated in the academic mobility program based on the Constanta Maritime University (Constanta Maritime University, Romania) within the framework of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union to support international exchange and cooperation in the field of education, vocational training, sports and youth policy.
  • Students Danylo Samofal and Mykyta Litvinov, participants of the dual award programme of the KSMA–LMA, funded by Wilson ASA with the support of the Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers of Ukraine, won the right to mobility among 2nd year students. The students study at Academia Navală “Mircea cel Bătrân” (Romania) – and share their impressions: Danylo Samofal: “We really like this experience! The program is interesting, the teachers are cool, the material is useful. We work with pleasure and see how we grow professionally every day.” Mykyta Litvinov: “There are many simulators here that really help improve our skills. Now, before the first practice, we have not only knowledge, but also confidence in our abilities.”
