Research Directions

Kherson State Maritime Academy By Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 372 dated March 25, 2021 “On the results of state certification of higher education institutions in terms of their scientific (scientific and technical) activities” (create a hyperlink to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in the appendix to the letter) was certified in terms of scientific (scientific and technical) activities. Qualification group “B” was established for the scientific direction “Social Sciences”, and qualification group “B” was established for the scientific direction “Technical Sciences”.

Scientific and scientific-technical activity at Kherson State Maritime Academy is an integral component of educational activity and is carried out with the aim of integrating scientific, educational, and industrial activities. Scientific activity is conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Laws of Ukraine “On Education,” “On Higher Education,” “On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity,” “On Priority Directions of the Development of Science and Technology,” and other regulatory acts.

The main directions of scientific, scientific-technical, and innovative activity of Kherson State Maritime Academy are:

  1. Fundamental and applied research, as well as scientific-technical (experimental) developments in the humanitarian, natural, and technical fields under state orders, international programs, grants, and economic contracts;
  2. Creation of scientific-technical products, experimental design, and design-technological works under economic contracts or agreements;
  3. Conducting scientific and scientific-technical examinations, expert studies, provision of scientific and scientific-technical services under economic contracts or agreements;
  4. Publication of scientific works, monographs, textbooks, teaching aids, and dictionaries;
  5. Implementation of created innovative products in production and other sectors of the economy;
  6. Acquisition, protection, and safeguarding of intellectual property rights to the results of scientific and scientific-technical activity;
  7. Production and commercialization of science-intensive products.

All research activities carried out at the Academy are innovative in nature, competitive, and of significant importance for practical application on vessels of the river and sea fleet of the state.

Scientific research at Kherson State Maritime Academy is conducted in accordance with the requirements and principles of Open Science.

At the Academy, Open Science is regarded as a modern approach to organizing research activities based on the principles of openness, accessibility, transparency, and broad collaboration. Its primary purpose is to ensure free access to research results, methodologies, research data, and other scholarly information.

The implementation of Open Science principles promotes the development of innovation, enhances the effective use of scientific potential, prevents unnecessary duplication of research, facilitates access to the latest scientific achievements, and creates conditions for their practical application. At the same time, Open Science supports the principles of transparency, accountability, equality, and academic integrity in research activities.

One of the Academy’s strategic priorities is the active integration into the European Research Area (ERA) and the global scientific community through participation in international research projects, academic mobility programmes, partnership initiatives, and collaborative research activities.

The Academy’s Open Science Policy is developed in accordance with internationally recognized recommendations on Open Science, the applicable legislation of Ukraine, and the Academy’s internal regulations.
