{"id":6911,"date":"2021-03-04T11:09:54","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T08:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.ksma.ks.ua\/?page_id=6911"},"modified":"2021-05-18T10:47:28","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T07:47:28","slug":"department-of-ship-handling-at-sea","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ksma.ks.ua\/?page_id=6911&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Department of Ship Handling at Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Department goal:<\/strong> high-quality training of cadets, training of Bachelors and Masters in accordance with state educational standards and STCW requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Department tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 develop cadets\u2019 ability to maneuver and handle vessel in all conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 provide cadets with knowledge of basic principles of keeping navigational watch and managing bridge personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 provide cadets with knowledge of COLREG, 1972, as amended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 develop cadets\u2019 ability to use radar and ARPA to ensure safe navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 provide cadets with knowledge of basic principles of vessel design, theory and factors affecting draught and stability, measures which are necessary to ensure vessel draught and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 provide cadets with knowledge of methods, measures and equipment for fighting with marine pollution, precautions to be taken to prevent marine pollution, MARPOL requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Department functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 organization of educational process in disciplines which are taught at department. It consisting of theoretical, practical and laboratory parts in accordance with requirements of IMO requirements and national educational standards;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 usage of modern teaching materials in Ukraine and English languages in educational process;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 usage modern technical teaching aids, primarily simulators, in educational process;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 improvement of cadets\u2019 assessment, including current assessment, semester assessments and assessments based on results of completion of disciplines training cycle and final assessment of KSMA graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 improvement of teacher\u2019 knowledge and skills;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 organization of teachers\u2019 participation in scientific and educational activities;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 close cooperation with related departments in terms of increasing educational process efficacy, exchange of experience in use of modern teaching methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Department development program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Providing the department with modern educational professional materials in Ukrainian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Department training organization, taking into account requirements regarding teaching methods, including distance learning, interactive training, use of modern technical teaching aids, virtual simulators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Organization of cadets&#8217; knowledge assessment, taking into account modern methods, including computer testing during interactive training, computer testing based on results of training (semester, year, oral examinations at the end of training cycle, including online interviewing of cadets who are abroad).
