{"id":12815,"date":"2021-09-23T16:35:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T13:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ksma.ks.ua\/?page_id=12815"},"modified":"2021-09-29T11:12:29","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T08:12:29","slug":"271-01en","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ksma.ks.ua\/?page_id=12815&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"271.01 \u201cNavigation and Ship Handling at sea\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ukrainian Language<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of mastering the discipline in the context of training specialists in a particular specialty is to increase the level of general language training, language literacy, communicative competence of students, practical mastery of official, business, scientific, and conversational styles of the Ukrainian language which will provide professional communication at an adequate language level<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>History and Culture of Ukraine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline is aimed at forming a holistic view of the historical development of the Ukrainian people on the basis of a new concept of the history of Ukraine; acquaintance with the achievements in the field of material and spiritual culture of the peoples who lived and live on the territory of the Ukrainian lands; formation of awareness of the role and place of Ukraine in the world history; development of skills of practical application of historical knowledge and general competences for the formation of an impartial attitude to other ethnic groups, individuals and their role in history and cultural process; developing a critical attitude to the analysis of the historical material and one&#8217;s own view of historical phenomena and events. The academic discipline &#8220;History and Culture of Ukraine&#8221; is in the general training cycle of normative part for bachelor degree of students. This discipline serves as a theoretical basis for further study of such disciplines as &#8220;Philosophy&#8221;, &#8220;Psychology&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Philosophy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, in the time of profound systemic transformations, life requires the ability of conscious, intelligent orientation from each person in the world around them. But this ability is not innate &#8211; a person must acquire it, and the most effective school for such training is assimilation of the highest achievements of philosophical culture. Thus, the purpose of philosophy is to mould the worldview of the individual and improve it. Philosophy assumes the study of the discipline\u2019s basic categories and concepts; formation of scientific worldview, philosophical culture of thinking and cognition; acquisition of skills of scientific and philosophical analysis and spiritual self-improvement; education of a creative personality who has high level of culture and active life position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main task of the discipline is the formation of a scientific worldview, philosophical culture of thinking and cognition; acquisition of skills of scientific and philosophical analysis and spiritual self-improvement; education of a creative personality who has high level of culture and active life position. To study the course, students need basic knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Higher Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline &#8220;Higher Mathematics&#8221; provides the development of mathematical and logical thinking of students, their preparation fo studying special disciplines and independent work on scientific and technical literature, mastering basic concepts, ideas and methods of modern mathematics, ability to use them in solving specific tasks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Physics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an academic discipline, physics provides deepening of the applicants\u2019 knowledge about the basic properties of matter and field, mastering methods and techniques for obtaining reliable data on the physical properties of substances, structural materials and dependence of their properties on changes in the environment; mastering basic characteristics and methods of measuring mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic and optical properties of substances both at the macro and microscopic levels<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Materials Science and Technology of Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will need the acquired knowledge, skills and proficiency for using structural materials, methods of their production and processing, evaluating materials properties, behavior of materials in operation during their practical work on ships of sea and river fleets at the positions prescribed by their job description<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Information Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline lays the foundations for the use of information technologies in the study of basic disciplines and for solving future professional problems. At the same time, this discipline promotes development of students logical thinking and formation of of the scientific worldview foundations. In teaching the discipline, the academic curriculum peculiarities in this area, requirements of special and higher education continuity and continuity of knowledge in transition to special disciplines as well as the latest advances in science and technology are taken into account<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maritime English<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline \u2018Maritime English\u2019 is aimed at forming the competence \u2018Use of IMO standard marine communication phrases and use of English in written and oral forms\u2019 defined by the Code on training, certification and watchkeeping of seafarers&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Chapter II, Table \u0410-II\/I).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discipline \u2018Maritime English\u2019 is aimed at development of general maritime (1-2 semesters) and professional (3-8 semesters) communicative skills. The learning objective is to make cadets (students) be able to use special purpose English as means of communication; educate and develop cadets\u2019 (students\u2019) personalities, including their communicative competence formation as means of producing or understanding statements in professional communication. The necessity of studying this discipline is conditioned due to specificity of seafarers&#8217; professional activity, during work at sea they have to provide effective communication in foreign language with crewmembers of their and other vessels, with port representatives (pilot service, vessel traffic service, customs etc.), understand and perform the orders in appropriate way and be able to report while performing them, know the terminology concerning ship parts and equipment. Effective communication between ship industry representatives influences not only accident-free traffic but human lives and safety of environment. That\u2019s why studying of this discipline is determined by international conventions SOLAS and STCW as a required condition in formation of general professional competency of future marine specialists<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Induction Course<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline \u2018Induction Course\u2019 refers to the cycle of professional and practical training and occupies leading place in the structural and logical scheme of training by higher education degree \u2018bachelor\u2019 because this discipline uses achievements of fundamental and applied sciences. \u2018Shipboard practice\u2019 discipline program is made in accordance with the Code on training, certification and watchkeeping of seafarers (Chapter \u0410-\u0406I\/4, \u0412-\u0406I\/4) and IMO \u041c\u043edel \u0421\u043eurse 7.03.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic Safety and Labour Protection on Board<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the discipline is to acqure the main theoretical knowledge that provides implementation of measures and organizational approaches necessary to comply with the provisions of international conventions such as: International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974, International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (according to Manila Amendments, 2010), International Labor Convention, 2006, etc. Basics of labour protection and security measures on ship is a regulatory discipline in accordance with IMO Model Course 7.03. The study of this discipline is preceded by a course in Maritime and commercial law. In particular, the discipline serves as a theoretical basis for further study of such disciplines as: &#8220;Basic safety&#8221;, &#8220;Ecology and environmental protection&#8221;, &#8220;Marine pollution prevention&#8221;, &#8220;Rules and regulations of classification societies&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safety of Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline curriculum is done in accordance with International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers Chapter VI \u2018Emergency, occupational safety, medical care and survival functions\u2019<em>, <\/em>chapter \u0410-VI\/1 \u2018Mandatory minimum requirements for safety familiarization, basic training and instruction for all seafarers\u2019, chapter \u0410-VI\/2 \u2018Mandatory minimum requirements for the certification of specialists in lifeboats and liferafts, rescue boats and high-speed rescue boats\u2019, section A-VI \/ 3 \u2018Mandatory minimum training in modern methods of firefighting\u2019, section A-VI \/ 4 \u2018Mandatory minimum requirements for first aid and medical care\u2019. \u0406\u041c\u041e \u041c\u043edel \u0421\u043eurses 1.13 \u2018Elementary First Aid\u2019, 1.19 \u00abProficiency in Personal Survival Techniques\u2019, 1.20 \u2018Fire Prevention and Basic Fire Fighting\u2019, 1.21 \u2018Personal Safety ans Social Responsibilities\u2019, 1.23 \u2018Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Celestial Methods of Navigation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The planned result of mastering the program is aimed at obtaining the professional competence necessary to master the theoretical foundations and practical skills of determining the location of the vessel with an assessment of the accuracy of the observation; conscious and professional use of seagoing tables and seaworthy astronomical yearbook; ability and willingness to organize the work of the crew in difficult and critical conditions to determine the location of the vessel by astronomical methods of navigation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International Regulations of Collision Prevention at Sea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collision is one of the most numerous types of emergencies at sea. An analysis of collisions will show that the main reason of them isCOLREGs contravention. The discipline is aimed at deep studying of International regulations for preventing collisions at sea, their correct interpretation and use, the study of general theory of ship manoeuvring, understanding radar and ARPA technical characteristics and operation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use of Radar and Appliances of Automatic Radar Plotting for Collision Avoidance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline is aimed at deep studying of International regulations for preventing collisions at sea, their correct interpretation and use, the study of general theory of ship manoeuvring, understanding radar and ARPA technical characteristics and operation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Radio Navigational Appliances and Systems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline \u2018Radio Navigational Appliances and Systems\u2019 is aimed at obtaining competencies, necessary for professionally competent operation of radio navigation devices by the navigator in accordance with the requirements of international and national regulations on safety of life at sea, students training in the basic principles and capabilities of the Maritime Mobile Service and Maritime Mobile Satellite Service MMS and MMSS), the use of radar and ARPA to ensure the safety of navigation, modeling situations to acquire skills of practical work in different subsystems in different situations. Radio navigation devices produce the information necessary for the navigator in different navigation conditions, as well as used in navigation automated systems, navigation safety, using radio navigation devices as a component of technical means of navigation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electrical Navigation Appliances<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline \u2018Electrical navigation devices\u2019 is aimed at obtaining competencies, necessary for professionally competent operation of radio navigation devices by the navigator in accordance with the requirements of international and national regulations on safety of life at sea<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conventions and Regulations of International Maritime Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supervision of compliance with official regulations. Initial knowledge of relevant IMO conventions that refer to safety of life at sea, marine pollution prevention. Supervision and control over the implementation of official requirements, as well as measures to ensure safety of life at sea, prevention of pollution from ships<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Meteorology and Oceanography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline is aimed at the formation of the following competencies: planning and conducting the passage and determining the location (table. A-II \/ 1); mastering fundamental bases of meteorology, and sections of the convention stcw-78 \\ 95, in particular under the international convention stcw-78 \\ 95 which provide safety of navigation, cargo preservation and acquisition of practical skills in performance of hydrometeorological supervision, reading of national and international faxcimile weather electronic charts, making forecasts of wind fields and sea state on weather charts, taking into account the movement of the vessel, as well as the calculation of ship speed reduction due to the influence of wind and waves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ecology and Environmental Protection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline &#8220;Ecology and Environmental Protection&#8221; is based on the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired by cadets (students) while studying in secondary education institutions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Navigational Information Systems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the discipline is to teach students the fundamentals of working with electronic chart and information display systems (ECDIS), in accordance with sections of the resolution IMO MODEL COURSE 1.27, training, certification and watchkeeping programs (SEA) 78 with amendments and requirements of Ministry of education and science of Ukraine. The discipline is closely related to the disciplines: \u2018Information Technology\u2019, \u2018Physics\u2019, \u2018Meteorology and Oceanography\u2019, \u2018Navigation and Pilotage\u2019, \u2018Ship Handling\u2019, \u2018Electrical navigation devices\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cargo Transportation Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discipline \u2018Cargo transportation technology\u2019 considers a set of questions on the technology of cargo transportation and its relevant documentation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ship Power Plants and Electrical Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this course, the basic types of heat engines, the processes proceeding in these engines are studied; structural elements and features of operation; power plants based on heat engines are considered; shaft line, ship transmission; ship power plant, auxiliary boiler plant, water desalination plant, systems servicing these plants, other auxiliary power and electrical equipment; complete set, placement of equipment in engine rooms of ships<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Global Maritime Distress and Safety System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of studying the discipline \u2018Global maritime distress and safety system\u2019 is to acquire the competencies necessary for professionally competent operation of devices of global maritime communication systems by the navigator in accordance with international and national regulations on safety and security of life at sea, training students in the basic principles and capabilities of the Maritime Mobile Service and the Maritime Mobile Satellite Service (MMS and MMSS), modeling situations to acquire skills of practical work in different GMDSS subsystems in various situations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maritime and Commercial Law<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline is focused on obtaining the knowledge of existing international conventions and recommendations concerning navigation including the standards of safety for ships and crews and marine pollution prevention. In addition students should clearly understand the system of legal regulation of professional training, labor and social rights of seafarers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safe Watchkeeping and Bridge Resource Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline is important in the preparation of the bachelor, who, receiving the diploma of a deep-sea captain, must competently perform the duties of watchman and captain ensuring safe navigation of the ship and prevention of environmental pollution in different conditions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theory and Ship Construction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discipline \u201cTheory and Ship Construction\u201d is a basic discipline in Bachelor Programme. The future navigator must know ship theory and construction, peculiarities of ship construction, functions of ship\u2019s systems to become Officer of the Watch.
