Training of scientific personnel

The defense of dissertations by the staff of department indicates a high level of its scientific achievements.

In October 2012, V.O. Protsenko (doctoral advisor – professor of the department V.O. Nastasenko) defended candidate’s dissertation in the specialty 05.02.02 – Mechanical Engineering at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

In 2012, considering the significant scientific potential of scientists, the Kherson State Maritime Academy opened a specialized scientific council K 67.111.01 for the defense of dissertations for the degree of candidate of technical sciences in the specialty 05.02.01 – materials science. Doctor of technical sciences, professor A.V. Buketov, the head of ‘Operation of ship power plants and heat power’ and ‘General Engineering Training’ departments, is appointed as the Head of Council.

Candidates’ dissertations are regularly defended by the candidates of KSMA and of other institutions and educational establishments of Ukraine in the specialized scientific council K 67.111.01 in the specialty 05.02.01 – materials science, members of which are: doctor of technical sciences, professor A.V. Buketov (head of special council), doctor of technical sciences, professor O.V. Sharko (deputy head of special council), doctor of technical sciences, professor O.O. Sapronov (scientific secretary of special council), doctor of technical sciences, professor K.M. Klevtsov, candidate of technical sciences, Associate Professor M.V. Brailo, candidate of technical sciences, Associate Professor Akimov O.V.

For the entire work period in the specialized scientific council K 67.111.01 the dissertations for the degree of candidate of technical sciences were defended by O.O. Sapronov, V.M. Brailo, O.V. Akimov, who are the teachers of department.

Today the training of scientific personnel is performed by professors: A.V. Buketov, О.V. Sharko, K.M. Klevtsov, V.О. Nastasenko, О.О. Sapronov, M.V. Brailo.

Leading scientists of the department are invited to oppose dissertations in scientific and educational institutions of Ukraine: A.V. Buketov, О.V. Sharko, K.M. Klevtsov, V.О. Nastasenko, О.О. Sapronov, V.О. Protsenko, M.V. Brailo.

Teachers of the department A.V. Buketov, О.V. Sharko, K.M. Klevtsov, V.О. Nastasenko, О.О. Sapronov, V.О. Protsenko, M.V. Brailo, I.A. Seliverstov regularly provide feedback on dissertations that are being defended in leading scientific and educational institutions of Ukraine.

In addition, the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department defended their dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences.

In 2019, professor V.O. Protsenko defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialized scientific council of the Lviv Polytechnic National University on the specialty 05.02.02 – mechanical engineering (scientific consultant – professor V.O. Malashchenko).

In 2019, professor V.O. Nastasenko in the specialized scientific council D 64.050.12 of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” defended his doctoral dissertation on the specialty 05.03.01 – machining processes, machines and tools (DD № 009741 from February 26, 2020).

In 2020, professor O.O. Sapronov in the specialized scientific council D 26.230.01 of the V. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine defended his doctoral dissertation on the specialty 05.02.01 – Materials Science (DD № 010233).

In 2020, a graduate student of the Department of Transport Technologies and Mechanical Engineering S.V. Yakushchenko defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 27 Transport in the specialty 275 Transport Technologies (DR №000848) (doctoral advisor: candidate of technical sciences, Associate Professor Brailo M.V.).

In 2021, a senior lecturer of the Department of Transport Technologies and Mechanical Engineering S.O. Smetankin at a meeting of the specialized scientific council DF 67.111.002 of the Kherson State Maritime Academy defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 132 – materials science (doctoral advisor: doctor of technical Sciences, professor A.V. Buketov).

In 2021, a graduate student of the Department of Transport Technologies and Mechanical Engineering T.V. Chernyavska at the State University of Infrastructure and Technology (Kyiv) defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 27 Transport in the specialty 275 Transport Technologies (doctoral advisors: doctor of technical sciences, professor A.V. Buketov, doctor of technical sciences, professor O.V. Sharko).

Inventive work: every year about ten patents for inventions and utility models are added to the achievements of the teachers of department. The most successful inventors of department are professors A.V. Buketov (over 100 patents of Ukraine for inventions and utility models), V.O. Nastasenko (over 100 patents of Ukraine and Russia for inventions and utility models), V.O. Protsenko (over 60 patents of Ukraine and Russia for inventions and utility models). Other teachers of department also have a significant number of patents: professors О.О. Sapronov, О.В. Sharko, K.M. Klevtsov, Associate Professors I.A. Seliverstov, O.V. Akimov, M.V. Brailo.

Scientific work of cadets. Cadets are involved in the scientific work of the department since its establishment. Teachers of department take part in the All-Ukrainian student scientific conference “Modern problems of maritime transport and maritime safety” as members of the organizing committee and scientific supervisors of cadets. Scientific work of the cadets is supervised by professors A.V. Buketov, В.О. Nastasenko, В.О. Protsenko and senior lecturer V.L. Aleksenko. The results of scientific work performed by cadets are the basis for the preparation of master’s theses.

The main indicator of the high level of scientific work of cadets and students is their speeches at scientific conferences at the national and international level. The high level of developments of cadets is confirmed by the diplomas received at All-Ukrainian competitions of student’s scientific works. In particular, under the guidance of professor V.O. Nastasenko, a set of works dedicated to non-traditional energy sources of ship and stationary power plants has been done. The results of these works are always reported at competitions of student research papers. Best cadets have the opportunity to enter the graduate school of KSMA, which will allow to rejuvenate the teaching staff of the department and improve its qualification level. In order to effectively conduct scientific research work of teachers and cadets, relations with the leading educational and scientific institutions of Ukraine, with shipowners, manufacturers and repairmen of ships, ship machines and mechanisms are being developed.
