Student government at Kherson State Maritime Academy (KSMA) is a state-guaranteed right of cadets, students and pupils, individually or through executive agencies to address issues related to their mandates. Student government of KSMA has its own symbolism and structure.
There are such student government bodies at KSMA:
- Conference of cadets, students and pupils of the academy;
- Student Council of KSMA;
- Conferences of cadets, students and pupils of faculties and structural subdivisions of KSMA;
- Student Councils of faculties and structural subdivisions;
- Student Councils of dormitory;
- Student government at the level of faculty, course and academic group.
Student government protects the rights and interests of cadets, students and pupils of KSMA and its structural subdivisions and their participation in the management of the Academy. According to the Law of Ukraine “About amendments to the Law of Ukraine “About the higher education” in matters of student government” № 1798-17 from 19.01.2010 drafted and approved a new Regulation about the student government of KSMA.

In agreement with the Student Council, decisions are made on:
– exclusion of cadets, students from KSMA and its structural subdivisions, and their restoring for training;
– transfer of cadets, students whose studying is financed from State budget to training on contract basis;
– transfer of cadets, students who study on contract basis to studying financed from state budget;
– assign to position of a Deputy dean, Vice-rector, who are responsible for work with students;
– settlement of cadets, students to the dormitory, eviction from the dormitory;
– approval of decisions on the issues of the dormitories for cadets, students who study at KSMA and its structural subdivisions.
At Kherson State Maritime Academy, the trade union bureau of cadets, students and pupils is actively operating. It solves the issues of protecting the rights of future seafarers, considers the possibilities of providing material assistance and improving the health of the trade union members.
The regional stage of the All-Ukrainian competition program “The best student of the year” was held in the Palace of Youth and Students
On December 12, 2019, in the Palace of Youth and Students, the regional stage of the All-Ukrainian competition program “The Best Student of the Year” was held. The event was organized and held by Student Council under Kherson Regional State Administration and All-Ukrainian youth public organization “Student Republic”. Kherson State Maritime Academy was represented by a 2nd year cadet of Marine Engineering faculty Evgen Dotsenko. Thanks to good studying, participation in the work of Student government bodies, the talent of the dancer and good character, Evgen received the respect of the entire staff of the Academy. His comrades and senior mentors were actively supported the young man. The competent jury and the audience also highly appreciated the young man’s performance. Evgeni became the winner of the Best Student 2019 competition.
Kherson regional student campaign “Youth for a healthy lifestyle”
Cadets of Kherson State Maritime Academy (KSMA) on March 29, 2018 took part in the quest “Youth for a Healthy Lifestyle”, which took place at Kherson State University.
The campaign was organized by Department of Education, Science and Youth of Kherson Regional State Administration and Student Council of Kherson Regional State Administration within the framework of the regional student campaign. The event was aimed at preventing harmful habits among young people, popularizing the culture of health and knowledge of life safety among schoolchildren and students.
Kherson State Maritime Academy was represented by 1st year cadets of Navigation Faculty Maxim Trushyn, Dmitro Vydyn, Mykyta Korobko, Philip Zenkov, Anastasia Maksymets, Ilya Rusnak and Oleksander Strilets. The players confidently coped with the tasks for quick wits, agility and endurance. KSMA team took the second place in the quest, losing only to the representatives of Kherson National Technical University. But our cadets took the 1st place in the Selfie competition.

Cadets of Kherson State Maritime Academy took part in the “Young Wave” festival
Within the framework of the regional program “Youth of Kherson region” on May 3, 2018, a gala concert of the 58th creative regional festival “Young Wave” took place.
The holiday was attended by: Chairman of Kherson regional state administration Andrey Gordeev, Director of Department of Education, Science and Youth Yevgen Krinitskyi, Rector of Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Poland) Zbigniew Osadovsky, regional leaders and representatives of public organizations.
Andriy Gordeev wished to the participants that the festival would become a springboard for them to perform on large Ukrainian stages and promised to create appropriate conditions for the creative self-realization of youth.
The festival lasted from April 27 to May 3, 2018. The festival was attended by more than one and a half thousands of students and pupils of Kherson region, who competed in vocal, choreographic, drama competitions and the Freestyle competition.
Kherson State Maritime Academy was represented by cadet Konstantin Zheleznyak (123 gr.) and the choreographic ensemble “KSMA Production”. The audience greeted the talented pupils of our institution with loud applause.
Kherson State Maritime Academy was awarded with a diploma of the laureate of the “Young Wave” festival. We wish the festival participants optimism, vigor and brilliant victories!
