Department of Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation

The Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation Department was established in 2011 on the basis of the Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation Department, founded in 2004 at Kherson Maritime Institute.  The department is part of the Academy structure and is a graduating department.
The staff of the Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation Department, headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Serhii Rozhkov, provides high quality education and training of electrical-engineers in the knowledge field 27 “Sea and River Transport”.  Granting of educational services to students takes place at three educational levels, such as the:
First (bachelor’s) level of specialization 271.03 “Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation

Second (master’s) level of specialization 271.03 “Ship Electrical Equipment and Automatic Devices Operation”

Third educational level (Doctors of Philosophy, Ph.D.) in the knowledge field 15 – “Automation and equipment development” in the specialty 151 “Automation and computer integrated technologies”. Increasing the tonnage of the world fleet, the use of the newest electrical equipment and technologies, complex automation of ships, improving maritime safety leads to increased requirements for knowledge, skills and abilities of ship electrical officers in the operation, maintenance and repair of ship electrical equipment, ship automatic control systems. That is why, the purpose of the department since 2004 is to meet the needs of the Sea and River international and Ukrainian fleet in highly qualified ship electrical-engineers, developed in accordance with the requirements of section A-III/6 of the International STCW-78/95/10 Convention and the relevant IMO Resolutions, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the special Model Course 7.08 Electro-Technical Officer-2014.
The department has close scientific contacts and cooperation with higher educational institutions and research institutions of Ukraine and the near abroad countries, namely: Research Institute of Applied Electronics NTUU “KPI”; Aerospace Institute of NAU; Institute of Electrodynamics;  Ukrainian Society of Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics, Kyiv;  CHP “Special Scientific Engineering“, Kharkiv;  Karpenko Physical-Mechanical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Lviv;  Shipping company “VESTRA ltd”, Kherson;  shipping company LLC “Transport Shipping Management”, Kherson;  Odessa National Maritime Academy;  Odessa National Polytechnic University;  Kherson National Technical University, National University of Shipbuilding.  Admiral Makarov, Mykolaiv.
