KSMA holds a membership in the following international associations:
On 19-21 October, 2022, a delegation of Kherson State Maritime Academy participated in the meeting of the 22nd Annual General Assembly (AGA) and the International Association of Maritime Universities Conference (IAMU). IAMU brings together 68 partner universities in 36 world countries. KSMA has held a full membership in IAMU since May 2020; however, the delegation managed to take part in the event for the first time and confirm membership in the Association.
The International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) supported by The Nippon Foundation implements a grant program to support the professional development of cadets of maritime educational institutions for the second time. KSMA has become a nominee for the second time: in 2021-2023 and 2023-2025.
- From 18 to 21 October, 2023, the Annual General Assembly, and the International Association of Maritime Universities Conference (IAMU Aga23) was held in Helsinki, Finland. Alona LESHCHENKO, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and Alona YURZHENKO, Ph.D. in Education, Associate Professor, represented KSMA. At the IAMU Conference, researchers and lecturers from IAMU member universities had the opportunity of presenting results of their academic/scientific research to the Association’s community.
- On November 3, 2023, Kherson State Maritime Academy became a partner of the International Teachers Association, Thailand. This association serves the education sector by assisting teachers, students, and higher education institutions around the world.
- From October 9 to 11, 2024, the Annual General Assembly and Conference of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) was held at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (USA), with the support of the Nippon Foundation.
- On October 10, 2024, the annual conference of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMUC) began. Professor, Doctor of Philosophy Alona LESCHCHENKO and Associate Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Iryna SHVETSOVA participated in the conference with the article “Enhancing professional development through foreign language professional competence in navigation and ship handling specialists”. At the poster session, Oksana BARYLNYK-KURAKOVA, Ivan BARYLNYK-KURAKOV, Iryna BOGOMOLOVA and Alona YURZHENKO presented their research on the topic “The use of interactive blended learning model of Physics courses for future maritime professionals on LMS MOODLE”.
- The General Assembly of the International Association of Maritime Universities annually awards scientists from various maritime universities who are the best reviewers of scientific projects. The KSMA was represented by Dr. of Technical Sciences, Professor Igor GRITSUK and Ph.D. Andrii SIMANENKOV, whose work was recognized at the secretariat meeting at AGA24 IAMU.
- On April 25, 2025, the IAMU Biofouling Network webinar – Environmentally friendly antifouling solutions was held, in which Iryna SHVETSOVA, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of English in Navigation of the Kherson State Maritime Academy, and Oleksandra LITIKOVA, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of English in Marine Engineering of Kherson State Maritime Academy, took part. The issue of developing environmentally friendly means of combating biofouling is extremely relevant and arouses significant interest in the scientific community. The creative, interactive atmosphere of the event contributed to the active exchange of ideas between participants and speakers.
- On July 9–10, 2025, Iryna SHVETSOVA, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of English in Shipping, an official member of the Skillman Network (Official Member), represented Kherson State Academy at the annual Skillman Alliance Summit (AS25). On July 10, 2025, in parallel sessions, Professor Shvetsova presented a scientific study on the topic: “Immersive Technologies in Maritime Language Training: Updating the Linguistic-Technological Component for the Digital Era”. AS 2025 brought together universities, vocational education institutions and industry representatives in Ancona (Italy) to discuss the development of digital skills and the transition to a green and digital economy.
- From October 14 to 18, 2025, the 25th Annual General Assembly and Scientific Conference of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) was held at the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) University, Chennai, India. The event was dedicated to the topic “Disruptive Technologies and Innovations towards Sustainable Maritime Practices”, with more than 144 delegates from 32 countries attending. 5 KSMA lecturers were recognized during the Plenary Session on October 15 for their high-quality expert work on project evaluation in various aspects of maritime education: Dr. Pedagogical Sciences, Prof. Iryna SHVETSOVA, Dr. Philosophical Sciences, Prof. Alona LESHCHENKO, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Alona YURZHENKO, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Artem IVANOV, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Dmytro MAKARCHUK.
