In 1980, he graduated from the Caspian Higher Naval College with a degree in Engineering – Navigation. He advanced in his career from Third Mate to Captain and has been serving as Captain since 1993. He worked at Ukrrechflot starting in 1986, and from 1997 to 2020 he was employed by international shipping companies.
He teaches the discipline Navigation and Pilotage. His research interests focus on the specifics of transporting general cargo by sea.
