September 2025 was rich in scientific events for English Language Department for Deck Officers. The staff is currently actively preparing for the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Tendencies in Teaching Foreign Language for Specific Purposes,” which will take place on October 23, 2025.
In addition to conference preparations, the staff proudly represented the Academy on the international stage. On September 15-17, Associate Professors Olha FEDOROVA and Tamara PINDOSOVA took part in the 3rd International Conference “Theories, Thoughts, Technologies: The Foundations of Modern Science” held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where they presented research on the use of the case method for developing soft skills in Maritime English classes.
On September 18-19, Professor Iryna SHVETSOVA delivered a presentation at the 4th International Conference of Maritime Science & Technology “Our Sea 2025: Sustainable, Green and Resilient Maritime Industry” in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Her report highlighted the importance of extracurricular initiatives, international student projects, and academic mobility for developing the professional competencies of future marine officers.
Additionally, on September 24, Associate Professor Iryna KUTSENKO completed a professional development course focused on the application of artificial intelligence in education.
The department continues to demonstrate active scientific engagement, expand international cooperation, and consistently enhance professional expertise, which contributes to the implementation of modern educational practices in the training of maritime professionals.
