On November 29, 2023 the World Maritime University (WMU) conducted the webinar “Seafaring 2.0: Navigating the Future with Tech”. This was a fully interactive webinar the main idea of which was to present Transport 2040 report focusing on the impact of future ship technologies, including automation, on seafarers.
Valentyna Kudriavtseva, Department Head, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor and Svitlana Barsuk, Deputy Head in Methodology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor were among the attendees.
The basic ideas of the report and the panel discussion about it concerned future technologies that will change work environment and values for seafarers as well as redefine traditional roles demanding adaptability and upskilling.
The objective for attending the webinar is seen in getting familiarized with strategies and recommendations for necessary maritime education and training initiatives to incorporate them into the content of Maritime English course for undergraduates.
