On April 6, 2023, cadets of Kherson State Maritime Academy took part in the XIV All-Ukrainian Student Scientific and Practical Conference “Foreign Languages in the Modern Communicative Space”. The event was traditionally organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kherson National Technical University, Kherson State Maritime Academy and Kherson City Center of German Culture. The scientific event was held in a remote format.
In the welcome speech to the conference participants, the organizers emphasized the importance of the chosen topic of the conference. Students from many Ukrainian higher education institutions had the opportunity to present the results of their researches to the wider student community, as well as participate in a discussion on research in the field of language, culture and professional communication.
Anastasiia Shapoval, a cadet of 111 group, prepared a report on the topic “The IMO SMCP in the Future of the Maritime Industry” and presented it at the conference (scientific supervisor – associate professor Olena Frolova). Oleksandr Nesterenko, a cadet of 112 group, prepared a thesis for publication on the topic “Communicative clichés in Maritime English” (scientific supervisor – senior teacher Iryna Kulikova).
The holding of the conference proves the interest of cadets of Kherson State Maritime Academy in research work, the desire to improve their knowledge of a foreign language and serves to improve the quality of professional training of cadets.
